Blackmer TXD Series Pumps Meeting The Growing Demand In Biodiesel Transport Industry

Grand Rapids, MIBlackmer, the global leader in positive displacement rotary vane technologies, announced today that the tremendous growth in the biodiesel industry is driving increased demand by biodiesel transporters for its TXD Series sliding vane pumps. The popular TXD and TXSD (stainless steel) transport pumps are designed to meet the challenges associated with the transport of all blends of biodiesel, including B100. Blackmer recently upgraded the elastomer seals in these sliding vane pump models to allow for compatibility with biodiesel. The fluorocarbon elastomers (FKM) used in the TXD pumps were upgraded to a high-grade compound to allow for much broader compatibility with a range of fluids and are approved for all biodiesel blends (including B100).

The purpose of the webinar was to provide an overview of the current state of the biofuels infrastructure to the commercial trade service executives at the Department of Commerce and Office of Energy and Environmental Industries within the United States government. In addition to the overview, Renkes, along with fellow co-presenter Jeff Hazle of the National Petroleum Refiners Association (NPRA), educated attendees on the implications and outlook the biofuels infrastructure will have on global trade for fueling-station and dispensing equipment.

Arizona's First Ethanol Plant Selects Sure Seal's High Performance Butterfly Valves

Petroclear releases technical bulletin on fuel dispensing filter useage tips when handling ethanol

Albion, ILPetroClear, a division of Champion Laboratories, Inc., has just released a technical bulletin that includes recommendations on proper dispenser filter selection when converting a tank from neat gasoline to an ethanol, from an ethanol blend to neat gasoline, or a conversion to E85. Ethanol is blended in 40 percent of the nation's gasoline supply, according to the Renewable Fuels Association. As ethanol continues to grow in importance in the petroleum industry, owners of fueling station need to know the warning signs of potential problems due to product conversion, improper tank conversions or phase separation that can result when dealing with ethanol.

Midland Bottom Outlet Plug Valves Outperform Ball Valves For Use With Ethanol

Skokie, ILIn a study recently completed by Midland Manufacturing, the global leader in railroad tank car safety valves and equipment, it was determined that its A-548-TEV Bottom Outlet Plug Valve outperformed other types of bottom outlet valves in rail cars for the purpose of transporting ethanol. The test compared the performance of Midland's A-548 Bottom Outlet Plug Valve and its A-522 Bottom Outlet Ball Valves. Both types of valves were tested with different seal materials and at various temperatures over a specific number of cycles to determine which valve is best suited to handle ethanol.
